Why surcharge has not been abolished for companies?

There are two possible reasons. First, the Finance Minister himself has gone on record that the income-tax law would be rationalised and simplified in a phased manner. Second, corporate taxation is a major source of revenue and the Finance Minister obviously would like to go slow on dismantling a levy that would hurt his interests.
