Education Icfai University signs MoU to set up Adelaide campus The agreement also allows Icfai University to tie up with State Universities in South Australia to offer ‘dual’ degrees. Our Bureau Icfai University has signed a memorandum of understanding with the State of South Australia to set up a University Campus in Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. Initially Icfai University plans to offer Post-Graduate Management Programmes at this campus. The agreement was signed recently by the Premier of South Australia, Mr Mike Rann, and the Chairman, Icfai University, Prof. Subhash Sarnikar, in Hyderabad. According to an official statement, the agreement allows Icfai University to tie up with State Universities in South Australia to offer “dual” degrees. Students enrolled for such dual degrees would spend a year at the Icfai University campus, and a second year at an existing University in the State. In the process, the student gets degrees or diplomas from both the institutions. The statement adds that the agreement goes to show the growing global acceptance of Indian higher education. The programmes offered by some Indian institutions have received the attention of countries both from the developed and developing economies, it said. ICFAI Society, a “not-for-profit” institution, has sponsored six universities across India, where the respective State Governments have enacted legislation for the setting up of the Icfai Universities. Over 10,000 students graduate annually from its campuses, while the enrolment in the distance-learning programme exceeds 1.75 lakh, according to the statement. The Australian delegation at the signing ceremony included Prof. Anna Ciccarelli and Prof. Andrew Parfitt, Pro Vice-Chancellors of the University of South Australia.
