Donate online

Sankar Radhakrishnan

Soft launched a couple of months ago, the revamped Web site of Child Relief and You (CRY) offers surfers an opportunity to make an online donation to the organisation. Users have to first register with the site (www.cry.org) before they make their donation. The company has tied up with Verisign Inc to offer secure transactions on the Net. This facility appears to have been a resounding success, with over Rs 11 lakh being donated online in the period since its launch.

CRY officials say the response has been overwhelming, especially given the fact that the revamped site has not been given any publicity. NRIs appear to be the heaviest users of the site and the online donation facility, with around 80 per cent of the donations coming from the US, UK and UAE.

Another feature of the new Web site is that it allows both individuals and corporates to buy CRY greeting cards and products online. Surfers can also download the CRY pledge and several wallpapers for their computers from the site.

In keeping with the organisation's policy of transparency, all its financials, details of projects and other initiatives supported by CRY, a report from the CEO and other documents are also made available to the public on the Web site.
