Life watch Industry & Economy - Hotels Emerge a winner! Sudha Menon
For students of the hospitality industry, here is a great chance. An essay contest, to commemorate the 75th corporate anniversary of the Marriott International group, will help them hone their writing skills, reveal their originality and win fine cash prizes. Jointly conducted by Marriott International and National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, the competition, whose final day for receiving entries is March 29, is open to all students of hotel management and catering. Marriott International will award cash prizes for the two best entries of Rs 12,000 and Rs 8,000. The winners will also be given an all-expenses paid trip to Mumbai to attend the prize-giving ceremony at the JW Marriott Hotel. And, what is the topic? Well, students can choose from diverse topics such as `Spirit to serve in the hospitality industry', Technology in the hospitality industry', `Success is never final' and `Tourism & Hospitality how they co-relate and co-exist'. The assessment criteria will be in line with its corporate philosophy and will focus on the essay's innovative approach, global outlook, quality of research, originality and, of course, clarity of language.
