Auto industry slows down

Buoyed by a 20 per cent growth in light commercials and a 14 per cent growth in two-wheelers and three-wheelers in the domestic market, the automobile industry recorded a 13 per cent growth during the first eight months of FY-06. The industry also clocked a 34 per cent growth in exports during the same period supported by a 50 per cent increase in two-wheeler exports. However, the growth slowed in November after the industry achieved growth rates in excess of 18 per cent during August, September and October.
