Something special

S. Muralidhar

AFTER the Rs 5 lakh promotional offer that Hyundai Motor India came up with for the Accent reaching the 500,000th car manufacturing milestone, it is now the turn of Ford India to launch a similar marketing campaign for its mid-size sedan — the Ikon.

This offer is on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the launch of the car.

So, to celebrate "five years of josh", Ford India has launched a special edition Anniversary version of the Ikon and priced it at Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai).

The Anniversary will be available across the country for a limited period and the company also plans to produce only about 500 units per month during the festive season ahead.

The celebratory anniversary edition will come equipped with the same 1.3-litre Rocam petrol engine.

But the limited edition will come loaded with five exclusive features to distinguish it from the previous variants. They include luxurious leather vinyl seat covers, instead of the usual velour or cloth upholstery, a stereo system with four speakers, triangular fog lamps, remote entry with anti-theft alarm and a set of two new premium colours.

These five add-on features are besides the standard spec of the Ford Ikon Flair. The other features that the Anniversary comes with include central door locking, front and rear power windows, power steering, tachometer, full wheel covers, clear-lens type head/tail-lamps and body side protection moulding.

Ikon Anniversary is just about Rs 20,000 costlier than the 1.3 Flair variant and about Rs 50,000 more than the LXi. For buyers scouting for a bargain, this special pricing is a good opportunity to pick-up this decent entry-level sedan.
