ABB: High-powered gains

Sowmya Sundar

FRESH exposures can be contemplated in the ABB stock, which trades at Rs 382. Business Line (February 16, 2003) had put a buy on the stock at Rs 300. We continue to be bullish on the stock with scope for decent gains from present levels.

Any upside of about 15 to 20 per cent can be used to consider the possibility of profit booking. ABB is on strong ground to reap gains from the opportunity thrown by the changing industrial investment climate as is evident from its improving order book position. ABB has a strong foothold in the transmission & distribution segment where investments are likely to flow in. ABB is now concentrating on increasing its products portfolio and services business where the margins are higher. A 25 per cent rise in exports for the year 2002 and its success in bagging big overseas orders indicate brighter exports prospects, which could cushion any domestic slowdown.
