EDIFAR is Electronic Data Information Filing and Retrieval system. Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in association with National Informatics Centre (NIC) has set up the EDIFAR Web site to facilitate filing of certain documents/statements by the listed companies online on the Web site (www.edifarsebi.co.in). This would involve electronic filing of information in a standard format by the companies. This system will have several benefits by way of dissemination of information to various classes of market participants, such as investors, regulatory organisation, research institutions, and so on. This would also be useful to the companies and the stock exchanges. This system is being introduced in a phased manner and would be applicable to 200 companies. A link to EDIFAR is available on the SEBI Web site, www.sebi.gov.in and at the NIC Web site, www.nic.in. How do I register on the EDIFAR Web site? In order to use the EDIFAR system to file statements/documents a company needs to register itself in the system. General users do not need to register to view the statements/documents on the website. How do I use the system? General users can use the Web site to query and retrieve data. Companies need to log into the system to submit the statements/documents. What information is available about the listed companies on the EDIFAR Web site? Financial statements comprising balance-sheet, profit-and-loss account and full version of annual report; half yearly financial statements including cash flow statements and quarterly financial statements. Corporate governance reports Quarterly shareholding pattern statement. Action taken against the company by any regulatory agency. How do I search for a particular company on EDIFAR? The list of companies is available in an alphabetical order. The required company can be chosen from a pull-down menu and then the information available for that company is displayed. Where can I find financial details about a company of my choice? Financial details balance-sheet, profit-and-loss account and full version of annual report half yearly financial statements, including cash flow statements and quarterly financial statements would be available for the companies. Some of these documents would also be available in PDF format. These details can be viewed by clicking on the Financial Statements-Shareholding Pattern-Segment Reports or Documents link on the main page. Does the Web site support query/search features? Yes. Users can use the Web site to query and retrieve data. However, initially, only header queries are available for searching/querying based on information available in the header of a statement, that is, name of the company, type of statement and the year/date of filing of the statements/documents. A user can, thus, retrieve a particular statement for one company for a particular time period using the user-friendly pull down menus. Can I download/print data from the Web site? Certain documents would be submitted in PDF format or document format which can be saved/printed by the user in the same form. These documents are:
