Inflation slides to 2.4 pc
Inflation rate plunged 0.19 per cent to a new low of 2.4 per cent during the week ended November 3, due to cheaper primary articles. The indices for fuel and manufactured products remained unchanged. The index was 7.61 per cent a year ago.
WPI, based on the 1994-95 price level, dipped 0.1 per cent to 162.2 points during the first week of November, from 162.3 the previous week.
The infrastructure index of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce registered a dismal 1.7 per cent growth during the first seven months of this fiscal, as against 7.4 per cent during April-October, 2000.
