External debt at $7.9 b
India's short-term external debt with maturity profile of up to and including one year, stood at $7.9 billion ($7,860 million), as at end-June 2000, according to the Bank of International Settlements (BIS).
This constitutes 34.1 per cent as a percentage of total contractual claims by reporting banks to BIS.
