Rupee recovers

MUMBAI: The rupee recouped early losses to strengthen against the dollar on Friday, tracking a recovery in local equities.

The domestic currency closed at 47.88/90 a dollar after trading in a range of 47.87-48.18. It ended yesterday at 47.94/95 against the dollar.

Dealers said increased dollar demand from importers and the US currency's gains against other currencies impacted negatively the rupee sentiments in early trades.
