Checking out and getting together a pool of work-ready employees isn’t child’s play. Now here’s news that harassed HR managers might welcome. First Advantage (FADV) has come up with VerifyDirect, an online background screening service. This service, says FADV, seeks to provide instant employment verifications through secured online transactions. Ashish Dehade, MD, West Asia, First Advantage, says, “Lack of digitised information is a key challenge in India. This makes the process of verification of background information more expensive, document-driven and slow. VerifyDirect, a Web-based contributory database, aims to tackle these issues head-on.” The online service seeks to facilitate faster verification of facts submitted by candidates seeking employment, loans, or for any other legitimate business purpose, with relatively less documentation compared to the more conventional methods of verifying such facts, according to Dehade. industry sectorsAs an international database it seeks to cover all industry sectors. All information supplied is available in the public domain and consent-driven. How does the system work? The company seeking information (Requestor) would have to pay a fee for using the information, while the company that provides its ex-employee employment information (Contributor) would earn credits for every check that is verified from its ex-employee database. Such credits can be used for free verifications in future or adjusted against the payment they may have to make to FADV for background screening or any other services FADV may provide to them. Privacy assuranceThe employee whose information is stored in VerifyDirect has an absolute control over his/her personal information, can monitor requestor activity through detailed audit trail and can provide online consents. It works in compliance with all relevant privacy laws in the Asia-Pacific. “The data is directly contributed by respective employers and hence the accuracy of this data is unquestioned. The best part about VerifyDirect is that it completely secures the candidate information and does not share the information without an explicit consent from the candidate. If the candidate does not provide consent for a particular requestor to view his/her information, VerifyDirect shall not allow the requestor to access his/her information,” assures Dehade.
