Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off Internet connectivity
I have a Pentium III 933 Mhz system with WIN ME. Whenever I connect to the Internet, the connection automatically gets disconnected every, say, five minutes. Could it be due to a problem with the telephone line? D.S. Mishra
There could be basically three reasons for this:<167,2m,1>
It is evident that a noisy telephone line will result in a slow browsing speed, and frequent disconnection problem. You can generally check if your phone is noisy, by listening to the dial tone when the modem is dialling out, and the reply sound you get when you are dialling in. If there is any disturbance, then you will have to check your line, sometimes the telephone exchange will itself have this noise problem. See that you have installed the correct modem driver, and the modem settings are also correct. If you are not sure about some settings, leave it with the default values. If you still think there is a problem with your driver, then remove and reinstall the modem. Also check and see if other clients with your service provider experience similar problem. If so, it must be a problem with the ISP, explain your problem to them.
