CD-ROM hitch

My system hangs whenever I use CD-ROMs even if the CD-ROMs are new. Please suggest a solution.

Please reorder your Config.sys so that the driver statement is in the first line. Make sure you backup your original Config.sys first.

Also, look for a Lastdrive statement. If there isn't one, add a line before the CD-ROM driver that says Lastdrive=Z. Make sure that the driver statement has a /L :x after it (where x is the letter of the CD-ROM drive). Lastly, please make sure that all of your cables for the drive are connected correctly.

Slow download

This is a problem I face at the Internet cafe I run in Kerala. It takes me and other surfers a lot of time to even open a page for any of the Web sites. Is there any software to enhance the speed of download or is the problem one to do with the telephone exchange? Please suggest a solution.

Connection hitch

I am doing a course offered through the Internet using Webplayer. The portal posts questions in the Webplayer. Usually, there is a set of questions. What happens is that, after I answer the questions, very often, the Internet connection fails at the final stage and I have to start all over again. For every delayed attempt to post the answers, I lose marks. Please tell me how I should tackle frequent connection failures.

Mail alternative

Please tell me an alternative for accessing the mail through offline explorers such as Eudora and Outlook Express. Please provide me with the POP address and the SMTP address.
