Cut and Paste

The clipboard is a handy utility that most of us do not care to use; instead, we choose to cut and paste in Notepad. This week, we take a look at alternatives to the standard Windows Clipboard that offer a lot more.

SmartBoard 2000 2.60

SmartBoard 2000 is a `Clipboard Extender' for Windows 95/NT. The normal Windows Clipboard can only retain a single item at a time -- as soon as you copy a second item on to the Clipboard, you lose the first one.

When you have SmartBoard running, it retains multiple clipboard items, even across a Windows reboot, and allows simple pasting back of any of them into any application.

SmartBoard 2000 runs as an invisible task in Windows -- there is no icon floating on your desktop -- but simple mouse-clicks or hot-keys pop SmartBoard 2000 up on top of your current application allowing you to select the clipboard item you want to paste.

It then stays out of sight, having pasted the matter into the current application automatically; you don't even have to use the application's paste command.

CopyURL is little shell extension that helps you to copy different information from your Internet Shortcut files to clipboard.

You can then simply paste it from clipboard to your e-mail, HTML editor or other documents. It adds the commands, Copy URL, Copy Link and Copy Name, to the context-menu of Internet Shortcut files.

In this version, there is the possibility of copying a list of URLs into clipboard by selecting multiple Internet Shortcut files at once.
