A new Landmark in Chennai
Our Bureau
CHENNAI, Oct. 31
LANDMARK opened its second store in Chennai at Spencer Plaza on Wednesday.
Set up at a cost of Rs 4 crore and spread over an expanse of around 36,000 sq.ft., the new store would have a section dealing in home products and children's garments in addition to books, music and stationery.
Ms Hemu Subramaniam, Partner, Landmark, said this store would be positioned as a ``boutique stationery store'' and was a representative of the `mall-in-a-mall' concept. This would also be a destination store to all those visiting Spencer Plaza, which itself was a tourist attraction, she said.
The new store was also a `family leisure store' and was equipped with reading areas for adults and children, a cafe and a play area. Ms Hemu claimed that the store had the finest children's section. There would be professionally managed children's clubs with activities every Saturday and Sunday, she added.
While the Red-E Food Court has set up the cafe in the store, Home Store and Bandhini of New Delhi would supply the home products while Weekender Kids would sell the children's apparel.
Ms Hemu mentioned that the Landmark store in Nungambakkam was being expanded. The first Landmark store, it was opened in 1987 and now spans 12,500 sq. ft. There are stores in Coimbatore and Kolkata. The company has a presence on the Net too.
