Hindustan Syringes and Medical Devices has launched an I.V. Cannula in India, called the Cathy IV. The product is priced at Rs 49.50 for a 16g to 22g cannula and Rs 64 for a 24g cannula.

The Volex polymer used in Cathy can reportedly be inserted in the vein easily without a peelback (splitting of Catheter during insertion), thereby making reinsertion possible without having to throw away the Cannula as in case of IV Cannulas which have a Teflon Catheter. The Cathy IV Cannula is also meant to cause minimal pain to the patient.
