Menthol prices up on poor arrivals

NEW DELHI: Menthol prices recovered by Rs 5 a kg in Delhi on Friday following negligible supplies from UP mandies coupled with increased off take by consuming units. Traders said pick up in consuming units demand, amid short supply mainly pushed up ment hol prices to go up.

Low arrival from producing centre following on reports that heavy rains in major mentha-growing areas in Uttar Pradesh. Mentha oil, menthol bold crystal and menthol flake prices recovered by Rs 5 each to conclude at Rs 780, Rs 980 and Rs 880 per kg resp ectively.

Following were today's quotations: Ammonium chloride (50 kg), 1500-2,000, acetic acid (1 kg) 45, ammonia bicarb (25 kg) 450, boric acid technical (50 kg) 4,000-4,400, borex granular (50 kg) 2300. Caustic soda flake (50 kg) 1625, citric acid (50 kg) (Ch ina) 3,400-3,500, citric acid deshi (50 kg) 3,200-3400, camphor slab (1 kg) 310, camphor powder (1 kg) 280 glycerine (1 kg) 60-85, hexamine (1 kg) 75, hydrogen peroxide (1 kg) 33-35, mercury (34.5 kg) 37,000, mentha oil (1 kg) 780, menthol bold crystal ( per kg) 980 and menthol flake (1 kg) 880. - PTI
