Almond prices gain on better offtake

NEW DELHI: Almond prices shot up by 200 per 40 kg in the national capital on Saturday on pick up in demand from retailers and stockists amid tight supply from overseas markets.

Almond California increased by Rs 200 to Rs 9,700 per 40 kg and its kernel to Rs 350-355 against last closing of Rs 348-353 per kg. Traders said better demand from stockists and retailers amid restricted arrivals mainly pushed up almond prices at wholesa le dry fruit market. They said higher California advices too had positive impact on the prices.

Following were today's quotations per 40 kgs bag: Almond (California) new 9,700 Almond (gurbandi) 4,800 Almond (girdhi) 3,050 and Abjosh Afghani 6,000-12,000.
