Zee TV's version of Survivor show

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, Nov. 6

CLOSE on the heels of Star planning a new game show -- The Weakest Link -- rival Zee TV on Tuesday announced a reality adventure show -- Romance, Adventure Aap Aur Hum (RAAAH).

Mr Partha Pratim Sinha, Director, Marketing, Zee Telefilms said, ``RAAAH is in continuation of the new programming initiative which began with the launch of 24 new programmes about a month ago on Zee TV.''

The show, produced by Miditech TV, which is slated to start by the end of the year, is expected to challenge the physical, mental and emotional endurance of the participants. Five married couples will be taken to places with extreme environment and will pit their skills against each other.

They will have to compete with each other in a variety of activities like yak riding, shepherding, mountain biking, four wheel drive rallies, rappelling, trekking, white water rafting among others. One couple is eliminated each day on the basis of perfor mance till two couples are left to battle it out on the fourth and final day.

Grand prizes include flats, fancy cars and free holidays in India and abroad.

Mr Niret Alva, Managing Director, Miditech TV, said that Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh was the first location chosen and others like Rajasthan, Kerala and Andaman Islands are also being considered.

But whether a concept like this would take off will have to be seen considering that this will be the first of its kind. ``This is a calculated risk that the channel is taking,'' Mr Sinha said.

Though the days and timing of the show has not been finalised, Zee officials said that this would be a weekend show targeted at young men and women. Initially people living in SEC A would be the early adopters to the show.

With the whole range of 24 shows launched by Zee in August not drawing in audiences, the channel seems to hope that RAAAH would do for Zee what Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) did for Star Plus.
