Crystal magic
Intricate crystalware at the handicrafts exhibition in Bangalore. These curios, between one and four inches long, can be manoeuvred against light to get shadows of various sizes. They are priced between Rs 60 and Rs 2,500.

Fishy treat
Bengal's favourite fish, hilsa, being unloaded at Namkhana in South 24-Parganas, to be sold at a wholesale market in Kolkata. The acute shortage of hilsa fish this year has led to its spiralling prices -- of more than Rs 200 a kg.
