Kidnapped Khadim director returns

Our Bureau

KOLKATA, Aug. 2

MR Partha Roy Burman, the 44-year-old director of the Khadim group, returned home on Thursday after nine days in captivity.

Mr Roy Burman, who received bullet injuries during the kidnapping, was admitted to a city nursing home soon after his return. He returned in a taxi, according to sources.

Mr Roy Burman was forcibly taken out of his car in broad daylight on July 25 from near a Khadim warehouse within the city. It could not be immediately ascertained whether any ransom was paid to free Mr Roy Burman as family members remained tightlipped.

Beyond arresting Mr Roy Burman's driver and a local crime lord, and conjecturing that inter-State gangs might have been involved in the abduction, the State police machinery could apparently do little in this case.
