Little headway in FCI rice, wheat exports
THE Government's target of exporting up to 30 lakh tonnes (lt) of rice from the Central pool during 2001-02 appears to be making little headway, with exporters lifting a mere 1.79 lt from the Food Corporation of India's (FCI) stocks during the first four months of the fiscal.

July edible oil imports at 5.5 lakh t
EDIBLE oil imports into the country witnessed a new high in July with the arrival of over 5.5 lakh tonnes as provisionally estimated by Oilmandi.com, an industry portal. To a considerable extent, this has compensated lower arrivals in June (3.5 lakh tonn es).

EDIBLE oil importers who had engaged in invoice manipulation could soon get into serious trouble going by the pace with which a probe into alleged irregularities in palm oil imports is proceeding.
