Bata Q2 net down

KOLKATA, July 20
BATA India Ltd posted a lower net profit in the second quarter to June 30, 2001 as compared to the corresponding period of 2000. During the quarter under review, the company recorded a net profit of Rs 5.56 crore (Rs 6.21 crore) on a higher net sales of
Rs 230.07 crore (Rs 218.1 crore).
According to the unaudited result, which was taken on record by the company's board here today, the total expenditure moved up to Rs 217.26 crore from Rs 202.4 crore.
While the interest cost was placed at Rs 2.41 crore (Rs 2.47 crore), depreciation was estimated at Rs 3.56 crore (Rs 3.3 crore). The provision for tax was put at Rs 5.56 crore (Rs 6.21 crore).
