DeBeers to set up geo lab in Bangalore

NEW DELHI, July 16
GLOBAL giants in the field of diamond exploration, mining and marketing, DeBeers, will be setting up a geological sample processing laboratory in India. Its Indian subsidiary, De Beers Adamas Pvt Ltd. has recently changed its name to De Beers India Geolo
gy Pvt Ltd.
The company has decided to set up the laboratory in Bangalore. It is also all set to expand its other activities in the country.
Now, the company will also undertake and promote scientific and industrial research for extension and expansion of knowledge in the field of mining and exploration of all types of minerals and precious stones for which it has recently received the approv
al from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB).
Earlier, DeBeers was only engaged in exploration and prospecting of diamond in India. The company would be routing its investments in India through DeBeers Mauritius Pvt Ltd.
It is also in the process of undertaking scientific and industrial research for improving methods and equipment used in the mining industry to secure greater efficiency and better utilisation of products. The geological laboratory to be set up in Bangalo
re will be a major support for the company's expansion of activities.
