CII's council bifurcated
Our Bureau
NEW DELHI, July 15
THE Associations Council of CII (ASCON) has been bifurcated into separate councils for the manufacturing and services sectors. The move is aimed at imparting greater focus to the two sectors, a statement issued by CII said.
According to CII, the need for creating a separate council for the manufacturing sector -- `m-ASCON' -- has been felt, especially on account of the increasing competitive pressures on the country's manufacturing sector in the wake of trade
and tariff liberalisation. This council, under the Chairmanship of Mr J.N. Godrej, will primarily focus on the competitiveness of manufacturing in the country.
