SER freight revenue up

KOLKATA: During the first quarter of the current fiscal (April to June), South Eastern Railway (SER) loaded 49.94 million tonnes of revenue earning freight traffic, up by 0.37 m.t. over the corresponding period of the previous year, according to a SER re lease.

The improvement in freight loading was recorded in respect of commodities such as coal, cement and other items. Thus the coal throughput at 8.37 m.t. in the period under review surpassed the previous record ( also achieved in the same period of the last year) by 0.55 m.t.

In June alone, SER loaded 15.24 m.t. of revenue earning freight traffic, up by 0.31 m.t. over the corresponding month of the last year, the release adds. -- Our Bureau
