Duty evasion by pan masala maker

NEW DELHI: The Central Excise Commissionerate, Lucknow has detected excise duty evasion to the tune of Rs 40 crore by a manufacturer of pan masala.

According to the Commissioner of Central Excise, Lucknow, Mr S.K. Shingal, Harsingar Gutkha Pvt Ltd based in the UP capital had floated tow trading units as a facade. Goods were then purportedly cleared from the factory premises without payment of duty a nd the invoices were issued in the name of these two trading firms. f303 -- Our Bureau
