Khoday's LNG project to get tax reliefs

Our Bureau

BANGALORE, July 5

THE Karnataka Cabinet on Thursday approved exemptions on entry tax and registration fee for Khoday group's Rs 3,140-crore LNG pipeline project for a 500-MW power plant proposed at Gokarna.

The 100 per cent stamp duty exemption for land and entry tax reliefs for construction material are in line with the new industrial policy, the Information Minister, Mr B.K. Chandrashekar, said at a briefing.

Amendment to the Electricity Act 1910 has also been approved to check power thefts by individuals and corporates. The Bill, to be taken up during the forthcoming session, proposes stringent penalties including raising the fine from Rs 1000 to Rs 3,000-50 ,000 and imprisonment ranging from three months to five years.
