Ford India June sales down

NEW DELHI, July 4
FORD India Ltd's (FIL) sales in June this year was considerably lower than the sales recorded during the previous month. During June, 2,993 units of the Ford Ikon were sold. This included domestic sales of 1,103 units and exports of 1,890 units.
This is against total sales of 3,475 units of the Ikon reported during May. Of this, domestic sales constituted 1,495 units and exported Ikons in the form of completely knocked down (CKD) kits constituted 1,980 units. A company release also said that the
June 2001 sales represented a growth of 173 per cent over the sales posted in June 2000.
FIL has sold 20,553 units of the Ford Ikon during the six-month period ending June 2001. The first-half year sales included domestic sales of 9,083 units and exports of 11,470 units.
The FIL release said that the company was poised to overtake the estimated sales target of 40,000 units for the calendar year 2001. The company recently announced that the new Ford Mondeo would be available in the country by the end of the year.
