Logix into embedded solutions

Vishwanath Kulkarni

BANGALORE, May 6

LOGIX Microsystems, the Bangalore-based CRM services provider, is diversifying into development of embedded software solutions.

The company has entered into a strategic tie-up with a Bangalore-based embedded software solutions provider in this regard.

Mr Sanjay Soni, Managing Director, Logix Microsystems, said that as part of the tie-up, the partner company would have access to Logix's overseas marketing offices and the existing customer base. The agreement provided for profit-sharing and an equity st ake to Logix at a later date, depending on the performance, he added.

Logix's US subsidiary is spearheading the company's foray into embedded software, through which it plans to offer total solutions as well as software design and development services for various industry segments such as consumer electronics, telecom, med ical electronics, automotive and industrial process control.

``The embedded software division within Logix will initially provide services but has a clearly defined technology roadmap to develop its own intellectual property (IP) in the form of products and technologies that can be mass marketed,'' Mr Soni said.

``The initial products that are being developed are an MPEG2 stack/decoder and a UIMS (user interface management system) for micro-controllers. Both these products are in high demand and we will be one of the first companies to introduce products in this area,'' he added.

The company is projecting a revenue of $3 million from this division alone for the current year. For the year ended March 31, Logix posted a 56-per cent rise in net profit at Rs 3.60 crore (Rs 2.32 crore).

The company's turnover for the year was up by 43 per cent at Rs 17.20 crore (Rs 12.71 crore).
