BANGALORE, April 9
THE US-based MobiApps intends to invest $10 million over the next three years in its India operations. Announcing the launch of its India operations in Bangalore, Mr Sanjay Chakrabarty, President and CEO, said that the company would grow to 150 people by
year-end from 25 now.
MobiApps also planned to establish its European presence by June and some of its products and solutions were being tested by Scandinavian and other European corporates and operators, Mr Chakrabarty added.
According to Mr Jesudas Bell, Senior Vice-President, the company hoped to have some embedded devices out in a couple of months.
``The company is also in discussions about joint development partnerships with technology companies in India,'' Mr Chakrabarty said.
It expected to announce the partnerships in a month or so. MobiApps was in discussions with Indian mobile operators for deployment of solutions, he added.
MobiApps is a development partner of Nokia, Intel, Motorola Ericsson, Signal Soft and iPlanet among others.
``MobiApps intends the Bangalore centre to focus on research and development activities for its global operations in wireless technologies,'' said Mr Bell.
According to Mr Chakrabarty, the Indian operations are a critical part of MobiApps's global strategy to focus on mobile applications and middleware platforms for mobile operators and corporates, while also developing embedded solutions.
MobiApps solutions include applications built on the m-World server platform, financial healthcare, travel and auto industry solutions.
The company also provides a range of m-commerce enabling middleware products while its wireless embedded solutions include the development of core software stacks and porting embedded software onto multiple target platforms.
MobiApps is promoted and funded by Mr Arthur D Little, the American management consulting firm, and other private investors.
