SEA to hold seminar on vegoil industry

Our Bureau

MUMBAI, April 8

A NATIONAL seminar on technology upgradation in vegetable oil industry, organised by the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA), will be held on April 28 in Mumbai.

The purpose of the seminar is to draw attention to technologies available in the country for reducing the cost of processing and improving the quality of products to international standards. In many cases, by carrying out minor to moderate changes it is possible to reduce the cost of processing or refining and also reduce the excessive consumption of steam, power and energy.

Globalisation has thrown a challenge to technologists and agricultural scientists to augment the productivity of oilseeds, minimise the cost of processing and improve the quality of products so that Indian products become globally competitive in terms of cost and quality both.

The seminar is sponsored by the Technology Mission on Oilseeds and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, and supported by Central Food Technological Research Institute, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Oil Technologists' Association of India and IBPL Urja Research Foundation, among others.
