Subhash Projects to market water treatment tech

Our Bureau

CALCUTTA, March 24

SUBHASH Projects and Marketing Ltd (SPML) has announced the signing of a MoU for a strategic alliance with a US environment technology developer _ Lightstream Technologies Inc.

The MoU was signed in New Delhi on Friday as part of the scheduled engagements of the business delegation accompanying the US President, Mr. Bill Clinton.

Mr. Subhash Sethi, Vice-Chairman of SPML, told Business Line that the alliance envisaged product assembly and joint marketing in the country of Lightstream's new pulsed ultraviolet light water disinfection technology through a licensing arrangement. SPML would require to import certain critical equipment from the licensor in the initial stage.

Mr. Sethi said the initial arrangement would graduate into a joint venture some time next year with technology transfer to the proposed outfit.

The new disinfection technology does not use chlorine and is effective in dealing with not only bacteria but also a wide range of pathogens in water or wastewater, such as crytosporidium.
