A VERTICAL portal serving the interests of small and medium enterprises (SME) has proposed to set up `Industrial Cafes', a platform which would serve as customer support and e-commerce training centres.

Govt rules out new divestment panel
THERE is no need to set up a new disinvestment commission within the next one-two years as the Government will be guided by the recommendations of the previous commission, headed by Mr. G.V. Ramakrishna, while going ahead with its disinvestment programme in select public sector undertakings, Minister in-charge of the Department of Disinvestment, Mr. Arun Jaitley, has said.

Clarification on SSI sector investment limit
THE Government has clarified that SSI/ancillary units which have obtained provisional registration on the basis of its notification of December 10, 1997 and have taken concrete steps for implementing the project such as preparation of project reports, sa nction of loans, purchase of land, among others before December 24, 1999 will continue to enjoy small-scale industry status as long as the investment in plant and machinery does not exceed Rs. 3 crores.
