General FALTA (WB): Leading water tank maker, Patton Ltd, on Saturday announced investment of Rs 60 crore to set up an export-oriented unit at the Falta Special Economic Zone (SEZ). "We will manufacture electrical hardware at Falta for export to US and Canada. Commercial production will start by next one year," its Managing Director, Mr Sanjay Budhia, said here today at the foundation stone ceremony of the project. The Falta project will be spread over five acre. It would provide direct employment to 250 taking the total manpower required to 1,000. "Falta is the fourth unit of Patton and we have another lined up at Ulberia in Howrah district," he added without giving details. Mr Patton has three units at Garia, Kodalia and Behala. Two of them produce the Patton brand water tank and another, engineering products for the export market. The Chief Minister, Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, said he would sort out some of the pending problems pertaining to the Falta SEZ. - PTI
