Commodities Black pepper, turmeric down on lack of demand NEW DELHI: Wholesale black pepper and turmeric prices drifted by Rs 100 each per quintal here on Saturday following lack of buying support from stockists and exporters coupled with adequate stocks. Black pepper common lost Rs 100 to Rs 15,000-15,100 a quintal. Turmeric traded lower to Rs 4,800-6,000 against last closing of Rs 4,900-6,100 per quintal. Marketmen said adequate stocks position against lack of buying interest mainly led to fall in black pepper and turmeric prices. Following were today's quotations (in Rs per quintal): Ajwain 5,700-8,500 black pepper common 15,000-15,100 Betelnut (kg) 95-105, cardamom brown (Jhundiwali) 14,800-14,900 and cardamom brown (Kanchicut) 16,000-19,500. Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 445-5 15, cardamom (colour robin) 540-550, cardamom bold 555-570, cardamom extra (bold) 610-650 and cloves (kg) 255-310. - PTI
