Our Bureau

Mangalore, April 29 New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), in association with the Bangalore-based Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), conducted an interactive trade meet at Bangalore recently.

A press release by NMPT said here on Tuesday that the purpose of the meet was to apprise the importers and exporters of Karnataka of the latest developments and infrastructure addition at the port, and to identify the areas where necessary steps are to be taken for smooth movement of cargo through the port.

Exporters and importers of commodities such as coffee, cashew, garments, reefer, plywood, granite, tyres and leather goods; and senior officials from Railways, CONCOR, and mainline container operators attended the meet.

Mr P. Tamilvanan, Chairman of NMPT, requested members from trade and industry to make use of the only major port in Karnataka — New Mangalore Port — for moving their cargo and avail of its advantageous position.

Mr M.A. Bhaskarachar, Deputy Chairman of NMPT, welcomed the gathering.
