New Delhi, April 23 The total foreign direct investment (including non-resident Indian investment) during 2007-08 up to February stood at $20.1 billion, the Minister for Minister of Overseas India Affairs, Mr Vayalar Ravi, told the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

The Minister said that the Government has put in place a liberal and transparent policy for FDI, including investments from NRIs, wherein most of the sectors are open to FDI under the automatic route. In addition, the policy allows special dispensation for NRI investments in the real estate and housing and in domestic airline sectors.
