Human Resources Government - Politics ‘Review policy on reservation in AAI board’ Our Bureau New Delhi, April 23 A parliamentary committee has specifically recommended that the Government should review its policy and make necessary changes in the Airports Authority of India Act 1994, to provide reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes on the board of directors of the authority. Pending amendments of the Act, the committee desired that the Government should make serious efforts to draw a panel of suitable SC/ST candidates having good background in finance and industry among others under the control of the administrative Ministry to ensure appointment of at least one SC/ST part-time director on the AAI board. The proposal is part of the action taken by the Government on the recommendations contained in the Fifteenth report of the Committee on the welfare of Scheduled Cast and Scheduled Tribes on ‘Reservation for and employment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Airports Authority of India,’ which was tabled in Parliament on Wednesday.
