THE Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has set up a committee to discuss and finalise the technical aspects of the implementation of the new inter-connect usage charge (IUC) regime from May 1.

The committee will meet in the next few days to finalise and submit its recommendations to TRAI.

Representatives of all telecom service providers will be invited to participate in the discussions.

On Monday, TRAI held a joint meeting of all telecom service providers to discuss the technical aspects for the implementation of the IUC regime.

The cellular industry participated in the proceedings and reiterated its ability and willingness to implement it from May 1 in the interest of their 12 million cellular subscribers.
