KOLKATA, April 7

BHARAT Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Motors Ltd (HM) on Monday announced the launch of a range of co-branded lubricants in Kolkata, to begin with.

To be marketed under the "MAK-HM'' brand, the lubricants will be launched elsewhere in the country in a phased manner.

Stating this at a news conference held here on Monday, the Director (Marketing) of BPCL, Mr S. Radhakrishnan, said the tie-up with HM would enable HPCL to sell an additional 1,000 kl of lubricants over the next one-year period.

The MAK-HM brand of lubricants has been customised to meet the specific requirements of the Hindustan-Motors' product variants, especially the Ambassador, Contessa and special utility vehicles.

According to Mr Radhakrishnan, the eastern region accounts for 14-15 per cent of BPCL's total all-India throughput and "is the fastest growing region for BPCL''.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr S. Pattu, Executive Vice-President of HM, said there were over eight-lakh ambassador cars of different vintages on Indian roads.
