Honda Siel plans entry-level gen set

Our Bureau

KOLKATA: Honda Siel Power Products Ltd (HSPPL) will soon launch an entry-level generator set to cater to small households and commercial establishments.

Mr R.S. Bidesi, Vice-President & Director, told reporters here today that the 0.5 KVA set would be marketed within two months from now.

The company is considering a price bracket between Rs 12,000 and Rs 15,000 for the small set. Mr Bidesi said Honda was planning to increase its production capacity at its plant at Noida in Uttar Pradesh.

"Currently, we are running at a capacity utilisation level of around 70 per cent. However, as we had recently launched the 1-1.5 KVA upmarket sets and will be launching shortly the new small set, our existing production capacity is expected to cross 100 per cent within a year or so. The expansion plan has been drawn up to cope up with any increase in sales in the months ahead and higher inventory requirements.''

Honda is expecting a significant growth in sales and exports following the new launches. The company exports its products to a number of Asian, African and South American countries.

Honda's upmarket generator set models with a price tag ranging from Rs 31,000 and Rs 43,000, have been billed as the "world's quietest models'' because they conform to the stringent noise control norms.
