BHEL pays Rs 66 cr as dividend to Govt

NEW DELHI, Oct. 8

BHARAT Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has paid a dividend of Rs 66.3 crore to the Government, which holds 67.2 per cent equity in the company.

According to an official release, BHEL had declared a 40 per cent dividend amounting to Rs 97.9 crore for fiscal 2001-02. The dividend was presented by the BHEL Chairman and Managing Director, Mr K.G. Ramachandran, to the Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Mr Balasaheb Vikhe Patil.

According to an official release, BHEL recorded a net profit of Rs 468 crore on a turnover of Rs 7,287 crore during fiscal 2001-02. During the year, BHEL secured orders worth Rs 9,855 crore. Of this, Rs 800 crore-worth was from international markets.
