Water levels down in major reservoirs

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Water levels in the major reservoirs in the State continued their declining trend during the week ended last Saturday, according to the Central Water Commission (CWC).

At Kallada, the water level decreased by 0.65 ft to touch 337.93 ft. Idukki, the largest reservoir in the State, returned a reading of 2325.86 ft, which represented a mark-down of 2.82 ft compared to that of the previous week-end.

At Idamalayar, the level went down by 1.05 ft from the previous week to touch 483.20 ft.

Hardly any precipitation has been reported in the catchment areas of the dam sites during the period under reference, the CWC said.
