Major power failure in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI, May 14

THE northern districts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, experienced a major power failure Tuesday evening. When contacted, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board officials said the reasons for the failure were being studied by the Southern Regional Electricity Board.

They said the thermal stations at North Chennai and Ennore, as also the private power producer, GMR Vasavi, at Basin Bridge were brought back on stream within a few hours of the failure.
