Performance Tata Engg sales volume up 4.7 pc Our Bureau
MUMBAI, May 10 TATA Engineering today reported a total domestic sale of 9,660 vehicles in April 2002, representing a rise of 4.7 per cent over the year-ago period. The company's sales of commercial vehicles were up by 39.5 per cent to 6,447 units (4,620 units sold in April 2001). "Sales of light commercial vehicles, which had remained flat for most of last year, showed a robust growth of 86.5 per cent with 1,897 units sold in April 2002,'' an official statement said. According to it, sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles registered a rise of 26.3 per cent to 4,550 units. With Indica volumes low due to a planned shut down of manufacturing facilities (for Tata Sedan switch-over activities), domestic passenger car sales totalled 3,212 units in April 2002. Indica sales were at 1,834 units while utility vehicle sales touched 1,379 units, an increase of two per cent over the previous corresponding period. Safari sales for the month were up by 83.5 per cent to 222 units, the statement said.
