Rubber prices improve

KOTTAYAM, May 9

THERE was all-round improvement in rubber prices on Wednesday as there are indications that the market will firm up further.

According to reports available from major trading centres, the growers are holding back available supply expecting further rise in prices. Arrivals were also meagre in the market.

Marketing activities improved gradually as the prices of sheet rubber RSS 4 and block rubber ISNR 20 rose slightly.

Both the tyre sector and general rubber goods sector were buyers.

A few co-operative societies which were inactive during the last two weeks or so have resumed purchase operations.

In the international market too, rubber prices firmed up of increased purchases.

RSS 4 firmed up to Rs 35 per kg from Rs 34.50 on Wednesday and RSS 5 to Rs 32.50 from Rs 32.

Ungraded rubber rose to Rs 30.75 from Rs 30.50.

ISNR 20 scaled up to Rs 31.75 from Rs 31 while latex concentrate remained flat at Rs 29 as on the previous day.
