NEW DELHI, March 6

SHAW Wallace Distilleries Ltd has earmarked Rs 50 crore for the next five years to support the Royal Challenge Indian Open golf tournament.

This is part of the company's efforts to promote both the sport and its recently-launched line of golf accessories, company officials said.

The company has planned a three-tier strategy to promote the sport — through the international tournament; the national level Royal Challenge Grand Prix and the sale of accessories through the retail avenue, according to the event-managers.

Scheduled to be held in Delhi between March 14 to March 17, the $300,000 event is expected to see a 156-strong field, with more than 50 Asian PGA tour titles between them.
