Rubber Rubber market steady Our Correspondent
KOTTAYAM: The rubber market here remained steady on Wednesday. There was enough supply but buying interest was low. Tyre sector showed some interest in buying RSS 4 though there was only limited buyers for ungraded, block and RSS 5 grades. The price support procurement of Rubbermark and Rubco is moving slowly owing to acute financial crunch. The one-month old strike of the State Government employees has affected rubber consumption in Kerala. Traders now do not show enthusiasm in supplying rubber to upcountry destinations as Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Sending loads to Rajasthan is considered risky owing to the Gujarat tensions percolating to the State. Rubber movement to Uttar Pradesh has also slowed down as the Ayodhya issue has seriously affected business confidence and industrial activities. Meanwhile, sheet rubber RSS 4 was steady at Rs 29.75 as on Monday. RSS 5 remained flat at Rs 28 per kg as also block rubber ISNR 20 at Rs 27.75. Ungraded rubber and latex concentrate remained unchanged at Rs 27 per kg.
